After graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Design for Film and TV at Nottingham Trent University, I decided I wanted to deepen my understanding of the industry and do a Masters degree in order to focus on concept art and the digital environment of an art department. Having had the occasion to look at a lot of different things such as model making, technical drawing, storyboarding and even prop making, I chose a project that would enable me to focus on, not only traditional and digital concept art but also on learning about 3D software that is popular in the film, animation and video game industries.
During my three years at university, I have attended many life drawing lessons and had had many opportunities to develop a drawing style yet I am hoping, with this MA, to improve my drawing skills, both traditional and digital, and be able to create beautiful atmospheric landscapes and sets. In the past, I have dealt with a few software programs such as Vectorworks, SketchUp and Photoshop, however, there are other programs for model making and rendering that are sometimes required for a job, which I know nothing about. To learn to use these programs would hopefully open more doors for me in the future.
This MA in Design for Film, Television and Events is, for me, really about increasing the knowledge I have gained during my BA which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
